White flakes on the clothes can be embarrassing and could be a distraction to the mind especially when at public gatherings or meetings. Irrespective of the gender and age, it may affect the human population.
Dandruff can be defined as a condition of the scalp that causes flakes of skin to appear. It is often associated with itching. The exact cause of dandruff is yet to be studied. But various factors which may increase the risk is known. Dandruff cannot be related to poor hygiene but it may be more visible if a person does not wash the hair frequently.
Even though dandruff may be embarrassing and hard to treat, but help is available.

The exact cause is unknown. Some probable causes include,
 Dry Skin
Individuals with dry skin are bound to have dandruff. Dandruff that originates from dry skin tends to have smaller, non-oily flakes.
 Certain skin conditions
People suffering from psoriasis, eczema, and some other skin diseases tend to get dandruff more frequently than others. Ring worm on scalp generally causes dandruff.
 Seborrheic dermatitis
People suffering from seborrheic dermatitis have itchy, oily skin, and they are more likely to have dandruff. Flakes of skin appears that get collected in the hair. As these additional skin cells die and fall off, they blend with the oil from the hair and scalp, framing dandruff
Seborrheic dermatitis is firmly connected with Malassezia, an organism that normally lives on the scalp and feeds on the oils that the hair follicles discharge.
It doesn’t generally cause an issue, however in certain individuals it winds up overactive, making the scalp become bothered and to deliver additional skin cells.
 Shampooing and skin care products

• Cradle cap is a type of dandruff that can affect babies. This causes a scaly, crusty scalp most commonly seen in newborns, but it can occur anytime during infancy. Cradle cap isn’t risky and usually clears up on its own.

• Reduce sugar intake: Reduce fatty foods, simple carbohydrates such as processed foods, refined sugar and fried foods.
• Eat more green vegetables and fruits: they will provide plenty of vitamins and nutrients needed for the health of your scalp.
• Consume more foodstuffs containing vitamin B6 (pistachios, prunes, bananas, spinach, chicken, tuna), folate (dark, green leafy vegetables, beans, lentils, oranges), B12 (chicken eggs, skimmed milk, tofu, cheese) and biotins (almonds, walnuts, berries, carrots, onions).
• If you are non-vegetarian having a decent amount of omega 3 fatty acids, include fish in your diet. For a vegetarian, the best bet is the flaxseeds, walnuts, and beans.
• Yogurt supplements are best recommended in this case.
• Include food items like spinach, pumpkin, nuts, chocolate, beans, mushrooms which are good sources of zinc and selenium.
